Independent Test results

Independent Tests carried out by Major US Grill Manufacturer

Tests were carried out as follows: Several Propane GasGenie®’s were placed at the lower end of the Propane tank and then the grill was lit at differing burn rates, ranging from ‘Slow Roast’, through ‘Quick Grill’ to ‘Turkey Fry’. When a Propane GasGenie® went into alarm the amount of gas remaining was recorded. The tests and their results are summarized below.

Test Method

The grill was turned on to 'Pre-Heat' for 10 minutes.

It was then turned down to 'High' for 10 minutes.

Then a further 10 minutes at 'Low'.

The grill was then turned off for at least 1½ hours before repeating the whole test until the Propane GasGenie®'s had all alarmed.

Test Method

A Turkey Fryer was turned on at full power and left switched on until all Propane GasGenie®'s had alarmed.

Test Method

The grill was lit at minimum heat setting and allowed to burn for 3-4 hours. It was then turned off for an hour.

The test was then repeated until all Propane GasGenie®’s had alarmed.

Results

The average amount of Propane remaining in the tank was 4.2lb (approximately 20%)

The time remaining to empty was calculated as approximately 2 hours

Results

The amount of Propane remaining after all Propane GasGenie®'s had alarmed was 4 lb. (20%)

The time remaining to empty was calculated as approximately 1½ hours

Results

The amount of Propane remaining at the end of the test was approximately 1 lb. (5%)

The time remaining to empty was calculated as approximately 1 hour.
